Some dads want a tie. Most dads want to be left alone with the grill and the game on. This year, give him something better than both: a Sunday at Simple EJ’s, a putter in his hands, and a real shot at walking out with a Scotty Cameron.
Here is the thing about Father’s Day. The card is nice. The grill tools are fine. But nobody has ever teared up over another pack of athletic socks. What dad actually wants is a few unhurried hours, good food he did not have to cook, and a little friendly competition where he gets to show the family he has still got it.
So we built exactly that. On Sunday, June 21, every dad who comes through our doors gets a free crack at our Father’s Day putting competition. Line it up, read the break, and sink it. Do it better than the other dads in the Fox Valley and you take home a Scotty Cameron putter. No green fees. No tee time. No four hours in a cart. Just one putt, one prize, and bragging rights that last until next June.
1 putt
stands between your dad and a Scotty Cameron. It is free to enter, it takes about thirty seconds, and the story he gets to tell is included at no extra charge.
How the Putting Competition Actually Works
We kept the rules as simple as our name. No handicap math, no sign-up fee, no scorecard you need a calculator for. If you are a dad and you are here on Sunday, you are in.
1
Walk In
Come by any time on Sunday, June 21. Tell the host you are a dad here to putt. That is the whole entry form.
2
Take Your Putt
Step up to our indoor putting setup, line it up, and roll it. One putt, all the pressure, none of the green fees.
3
Top the Board
Closest to the cup all day takes home the Scotty Cameron. We post the leader so you know exactly what you have to beat.
Free means free. You do not have to buy a thing to take your putt. That said, the smell coming out of the kitchen has ended stronger willpower than yours. Consider yourself warned.

Grand Prize
One Scotty Cameron Putter. One Lucky Dad.
The prize on the line: a Scotty Cameron putter. The dad who reads the green best takes it home.
A tie gets returned by Tuesday. A Scotty Cameron gets bragged about for a decade.
While the Dads Putt, Everybody Eats
A sports restaurant lives or dies on the food, and ours is made from scratch by Chef Hef, who has spent more than twenty-five years building kitchens worth driving for. Father’s Day is exactly the kind of long, easy afternoon our menu was built for. A few things you will want on the table:
The smashburgers. A special blend made exclusively for Simple EJ’s, smashed thin and crispy on the edges. This is the burger dad orders, then immediately wishes he had ordered two of.
The wings. Brined, then double-fried, so they hit that crackle you can hear from the next table. Perfect for picking at between putts.
The Tomahawk Pork Chop. A 24-ounce showpiece for the dad who came hungry and wants the whole table to know it. Drag anything and everything through our house Simple Sauce, because we are not going to stop you.
It is Bib-worthy cooking in a room with a 22-foot LED wall, so whatever game dad wants on is already up and loud. He gets the food, the competition, and the game, all without lifting a spatula.
22 ft
of LED wall above the table. Whatever’s on this Sunday, it’s already on the wall with the sound up. Dad picks the game. We handle the rest.
A Day Built for the Whole Lineup
Father’s Day is a family day, and Simple EJ’s is family friendly by default, so this one is wide open. Bring the kids to cheer dad on at the putting setup. Bring Grandpa and make it three generations on the leaderboard. Let the little ones take a practice roll while you wait. The whole idea is a few unhurried hours where everybody is together and nobody is doing dishes.
Charlie’s a dad’s best wingman. Our fox-in-chief, Stephen Charles Foxxe, will be roaming the room all afternoon. He is great with kids, surprisingly opinionated about putting form, and has never once helped anyone read a green correctly. Say hi, grab a photo, let dad take his putt in peace.

Winner, Winner
Pork Chop Dinner. And a Putter.
Read it right and this is you by Sunday afternoon. Charlie will pretend he taught you everything.
Make It Easy on Yourself: Grab a Table
The putting competition is walk-in and free, so you never need a reservation to play. But Father’s Day fills up fast, and the dads who lock in a table get the easy afternoon: a spot by the wall, the food coming out hot, and zero standing around. If you are bringing the whole family, do future-you a favor and reserve ahead on Resy. If you would rather just show up and wing it, the door is open and the putter is waiting.
One More Reason to Make Us Your Sunday Spot
If your family ends up here more weekends than not, our memberships were built for you. Charlie’s Crew is our family membership at $23.99 a month. Founders Club is our 21-and-up membership at $14.99 a month. Both are the easiest way to make Simple EJ’s the table your crew defaults to, Father’s Day and every Sunday after it.
